The downsides of popular energy drinks continue to increase. Adding to existing reports linking energy drinks with serious health hazards and even deaths, a new government study found that 20,000 emergency-room visits in 2011 were linked to energy drinks—double the number of visits in 2007. The survey called energy drinks “a rising public health problem.”
